Heatwaves can be dangerous, especially when we’re older, have young children or are pregnant, or have existing medical conditions. Did you know some people can get sick from the heat even once a heatwave has passed?
Once the heatwave has passed, look after yourself and your neighbours and loved ones by: - Opening the doors and windows in your house to allow the cool air in - Drinking extra fluids for three days - Making sure any food in your fridge is still good - Check in on friends and neighbours to make sure they’re ok - Think about what worked and what you might do next time. For more tips in your language visit darebin.vic.gov.au/heatwaves. |

Did you know renewables like rooftop solar, gridscale wind and solar, and advanced storage now provide around 40% of the electricity in our main grid? If not you are not alone as fewer than 1 in 10 Australians know it. The Climate Council commissioned research to find out just how much Aussies know about the progress we’ve already made on climate action and the switch to renewable power. They found a significant gap between what’s happening in the real world, and what people believe is happening. The research also shows that 81% of us are eager to learn and want more information about how our energy system is changing. Our energy system is transforming at lightning speed. Renewable electricity generation has quadrupled in the past decade and is set to double in the next! Read all about it here: Electric Shock! Australia’s Light-bulb Moment. |
