When Darebin Presbyterian Church opened their doors in Thornbury this year, ample bike parking was a must. Pictured here are some of those who regularly make the trip by bike, come rain, hail or shine.  

For Preston local Martine, riding to church is a natural part of her family's experiment of doing life without a car.  They sold their car before spending a year in the Netherlands and now manage their life as a family of five on bikes, public transport and using car-shares if needed. Eighteen months on, they’re still car-free.  

Martine loves that riding to and from church allows them to connect as a family: “We have a chance to chat about what we learned at church, and we notice so much along the way. Last week we discovered a beautiful green cicada by the path. It feels right to travel lightly and take care of the earth that God has given us”.
